Description
Diatomite
Diatomite is a kind of siliceous rock, mainly distributed in China, the United States, Japan, Denmark, France, Romania and other countries. It is a biogenic siliceous sedimentary rock, mainly composed of the remains of ancient diatoms. Its chemical composition is mainly SiO2, which can be represented by SiO2·nH2O, and its mineral composition is opal and its varieties.
Many new indoor and outdoor coatings and decoration materials using diatomaceous earth as raw materials are increasingly favored by consumers at home and abroad. In China, it is a natural material for the potential development of diatomite indoor and outdoor coatings. It does not contain harmful chemicals. In addition to non-combustible, sound insulation, waterproof, light weight and heat insulation, it also has dehumidification, deodorization, and purification. The role of indoor air, etc., is an excellent environmentally friendly indoor and outdoor decoration materials.
Diatomite applications
Use in Gardening
Natural freshwater diatomaceous earth is used in horticulture for grain storage as an anticaking agent, as well as an
insecticide. It is approved by the Food and Drug Administration as a feed additive to prevent caking.
Use in Aquarium Filter
Diatomaceous earth filter that can be used to clean the water as it gets cloudy from food and waste.
Use in Hydroponics
Freshwater diatomite can be used as a growing medium in hydroponic gardens.
It is also used as a growing medium in potted plants, particularly as bonsai soil. Bonsai enthusiasts use it as a soil additive,or pot a bonsai tree in 100% diatomaceous earth. Like perlite, vermiculite, and expanded clay, it retains water and nutrients, while draining fast and freely, allowing high oxygen circulation within the growing medium.
Use in Filters Calcined diatomaceous earth is heat-treated and activated for filters.Like fruit juice, oil, beer etc
Use in Fireproofing
Its thermal properties enable it to be used as the barrier material in some fire resistant safes
Use in Brick
Diatomaceous earth refractory brick Made from porous diatomaceous earth insulation products. The main raw material for natural porous diatomite, then add a small amount of clay and combustible.
